Cottage by the Sea at Queensliff provides year round short-term care within a seaside holiday environment for children in need. This allows their families the chance to cope with their difficulties secure in the knowledge that their children are being well cared for and having fun.
Cottage by the Sea was established in 1890 and for over 119 years has provided relief care and support to tens of thousands of children from all over Victoria. As a unique Victorian children's charity that receives no government funding, Cottage by the Sea relies on the generosity of donors, branches, volunteers, business and community groups, trusts and foundations to continue this VITAL work for families in need.
This year the Cottage is also supporting families in crisis who are dealing with the post stress trauma from the February 2009 bushfires. The holidays will be available on an ongoing basis so children will be able to participate at a time that is sensitive to their social and emotional needs.
