An ABI can result from trauma to the head, from a fall or car accident for example; a stroke; brain tumours; or neurological disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Muscular Dystrophy and Motor Neurone Disease.

We provide services such as: · an information telephone and email service; · a wide range of written resources to explain ABI and its effects; · carer education courses, · education and forums for professionals, · education and awareness to prevent ABI, especially from stroke, · we auspice an ABI writers group, an ABI performance group, and a brain tumour support group, · monitoring and researching current issues for improvements in ABI services and prevention programs, piloting projects to meet service gaps and lobbying funding bodies and policy makers to ensure improved service provision, · continuing to work with non-English speaking background communities in relation to ABI services, ABI education and stroke prevention, · developing networks and collaborative partnerships with key service providers to maximise the impact of ABI and stroke prevention services and to avoid duplication.
